Our "Scrappy" Friends!

Welcome!

Hello fellow scrapbookers!!! Welcome to "Lasting Memories" which is all about LAYOUTS!! Yes, JUST layouts! There are no cards allowed here. We have weekly themed challenges, but you have the whole month to get in on the fun! Our challenges begin each Sunday at 8am EST and all 4 challenges will end on the date listed on the sidebar at 6pm EST. At month's end, we will choose a GDT to join us for a month! Only one entry per challenge, and no back-linking is allowed since we would love to know that we "challenged" you. We look forward to challenging you and helping you get your pages completed!

Specialized Hosting Sites

A lot of crafters use specialized hosting sites that not all of us have access to. We just wanted to let you know that if we don't comment, it's because we don't have access - but we see your work here at LM and appreciate your taking the time to link up and show off your style!!

LM #733 - Deliberate Designs: Journaling

Hello, and happy Sunday. We hope you are all staying safe out there and enjoying the start of 2025. This is Cheryl, and I am hosting the challenges this month. Are you ready for a new challenge? Let's go!

Sometimes I start a layout without thinking through my process, but often it helps to have some direction first. This month, we will deliberately focus on different aspects of our design in order to give some pizzazz to the finished product.

LM #733 - Focus on Your Story - do something with your journaling that is a little outside your comfort zone.

Here is a look at our design team creations, starting with our guest designer.

January GDT Barbara
Barbara cut the information out of a brochure and used it as her journaling.

I printed my journaling on a piece of vellum.

Lisa
I used 9 sets of stamps to do journaling on a 4 x 6 pocket card.

I wrote my journaling on two die-cut ornaments; the top one slides aside so you can see the journaling on the back one.

Thanks for your inspiration, Design Team. Now they can't wait to see your word-inspired layouts! Link up below by Saturday, February 1 at 10 PM PST for a chance to be our guest designer for an upcoming month. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.

Please include your name and the challenge number in the link-up description. Only one link-up per challenge, please.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

LM #732 - Deliberate Designs: Title

Happy New Year, everyone. Hoping you all had a safe and blessed start to 2025. It's time for our second January design-focused challenge, so here we go!

Sometimes I start a layout without thinking through my process, but often it helps to have some direction first. This month, we will deliberately focus on different aspects of our design in order to give some pizzazz to the finished product.

LM #732 - Focus on Your Title - use an extra large or long title, get creative with multiple fonts, replace a couple of letters in your title with pictures, etc.

Here are the wonderful layouts from the design team, starting with our guest designer.

LM #731 - Deliberate Designs: Sketches

Hello, and welcome back to the Lasting Memories Challenge Blog for another year of exciting challenges. I know it's not quite 2025, but we're getting a jump start on our January challenges today!

Before we get started with the challenge, we have some sad news: Brandi had to step down from the blog and will be sorely missed, and Maureen is taking a little break for personal reasons, so we wish her well until she can join us again. We hope to find a couple of scrappers who would like to join our design team, so please see the post regarding our design team call if you are interested in being a part of our team. Now, on to the challenge!

Sometimes I start a layout without thinking through my process, but often it helps to have some direction first. This month, we will deliberately focus on different aspects of our design in order to give some pizzazz to the finished product.

LM #731 - Focus on Your Arrangement - use a sketch as your starting point (be sure to share your sketch when you post your layout).

Here are the sketch inspired layouts from the design team, starting with our guest designer.

January GDT Barbara

Barbara used a sketch created by Rochelle Spears.

I used a sketch by Laura Whitaker.

I used a sketch I recently designed for my blog!

Thanks to the Design Team for inspiring us with your lovely layouts this week! Now it's your turn - link up your layouts to the linky below by Saturday, February 1 at 10 PM PST for a chance to be our guest designer for an upcoming month.

Introducing Our January Guest Designer

Hello, everyone! Happy Saturday to you. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate, and were able to spend time with family and friends.

Today we are announcing our guest designer for January. She is a long time participant in our challenges, and she is sure to inspire you with her beautiful work! Please help us welcome Barbara.

Hi everyone, I’m Barbara Greenberg and I live in Columbia, Missouri. I started scrapping back in 2008 while I was recovering from a broken ankle and staying at home a lot. I was addicted to it immediately.  Since I retired over 10 years ago, there has not been a day I’ve missed scrapping unless I was out making memories. I love to scrap about road trips, Christmas and of course my grandkids. All of that gives me plenty to do. I love following sketches and getting inspiration there or working from subject prompts & ideas. I love patterned papers and so many time that’s all I use other than cardstock to mat pictures or mat the patterned papers to let them stand out.

My layouts can be found on my blog at Barb's Blab and Creations.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! We will be back tomorrow with a new theme and a new challenge!

LM #729 - Artist Inspiration: Amy Genser

Good morning, and we are so glad you're checking in with us to hear about our final challenge for November!

It's design team member Lisa, and since I am an art teacher, I really want to use some artwork as inspiration for the month of November. In August, I visited the University of Iowa Children's Hospital with my daughter and grandson. I was very excited about the artwork that is on display there, so I have chosen 4 artists whose works gave me scrapbooking ideas. Be inspired by the artists' use of color, pattern, icons, and the like. Pull whatever inspires you out and use it in your layout for the week.

LM #729 - be inspired by Amy Genser's mixed media work that uses rolled paper pieces (like quilling) and paint, entitled "Urchin Underbelly."

Here are the wonderful layouts from the design team, starting with our guest designer:

November GDT Nelya

I was inspired by the variety of the colour blue and black accents.

I was inspired by the colors and many layers.

I was inspired by the fun layered circles.

Lisa
I was inspired by the repeating shapes and the spiraled paper. I cut thin strips of red foam and spiraled it into red circles.

Thanks to the Design Team for inspiring us with your beautiful layouts this week! Now it's your turn - link up your layouts to the linky below by Saturday, November 30th at 10 PM PST for a chance to be our guest designer for an upcoming month.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. We can't wait to see what you create!

Please include your name and the challenge number in the link-up description. Only one link-up per challenge, please.
