Hello fellow scrapbookers!!! Welcome to "Lasting Memories" which is all about LAYOUTS!! Yes, JUST layouts! There are no cards allowed here. We have weekly themed challenges, but you have the whole month to get in on the fun! Our challenges begin each Sunday at 8am EST and all 4 challenges will end on the date listed on the sidebar at 6pm EST. At month's end, we will choose a GDT to join us for a month! Only one entry per challenge, and no back-linking is allowed since we would love to know that we "challenged" you. We look forward to challenging you and helping you get your pages completed!

LM #480 - White Space

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday! We are so happy that you are here today. It's time for a new challenge, so let's get started.

Our theme for January is "Out of your comfort zone" and this month we want to challenge you to create layouts you may usually pass over as it may not be within your normal comfort zone.

* If you're anything like me, I struggle with the idea of true white space. I would love to be reminded that we can create beautiful layouts with simplicity.

LM #479 - New Technique, Tool, or Product

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories - we are so happy you are here today! I hope that our Anything Goes challenge from last week has gotten you back into scrapping mode! Today we are sharing our first challenge for January following our theme for the month.

Our theme for January is 'Out of Your Comfort Zone' and this month we want to challenge you to create layouts you may usually pass over as it may not be within your normal comfort zone.

LM #479 - Use a new technique, tool or product.

* This is the perfect opportunity to pull out all of those "to do one-day" inspiration screenshots we all have saved on the phone, computer or magazine. I tend to see something I really want to try, but easily get intimidated or too lazy to learn how to use that very expensive new tool/product I just bought, so it sits there unopened for years. Now is the time!

For my new technique, I tried drawing an entire background page with marker. I had never drawn on my pages before...

This is a brand new kit I received from Fancy Pants Designs Called Joy Parade and I used it to create this mini album full of layout for my son's gf's birthday.

I used my new Martha Stewart 'Eyelet Lace' Border Punch that I got last month along with a wonderful sketch by Brenshevia that I found at Pinterest. Sketch will be posted on my blog.

I used my new 3-D-embossing Folder and tried a new technique: acrylic paint on black paper….

Introducing January's Guest Designer

Hello, hello! Happy Saturday to you! I hope you all have survived the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and are getting back into the daily routine. Today we are introducing our guest designer for January. Please help us welcome Mandy:

"Hi! I work full time at the local hospital as a Medical Technologist, and am a mother of three grown girls, ages 24, 22 and 18. I only have one still at home, but she will be starting college this coming fall. I have been scrapbooking since my oldest two were babies, about 1998. I still love the craft and plan on shifting my focus to travel pages and mini-albums in my coming years as an empty-nester. I love a good challenge, so I am grateful for the opportunity to play along here at Lasting Memories. I love how we all inspire each other in this craft. "

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! We do hope that you had a Merry Christmas and that you are all ready for the new year. We've been working hard on planning the challenges for you in the new year. I will be going through our December entries this week and post our Top 3, GDT picks, and winner after the new year.

LM #477 - Wacky Holidays - Roots Day

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday to you! Welcome back to Lasting Memories - we are so happy you are here today. We hope you are all ready for the holidays!

Today is our last challenge of the month - and year! We always take the last week off to give the design team a little time off for the holidays. We will be back on December 29th to kick off the new year with a new challenge.

We also want to say a big thank you to our guest designer, Melissa. We have so enjoyed having her join us for this month's challenges.

LM #477 - Roots Day is celebrated on Dec 23 - Your challenge is to scrap an older photo of you and your family

Celebrate your genealogy, as today is Roots Day. It's a great day to celebrate your heritage. Many of us are returning to our roots today, as we head home for Christmas. Returning to our roots is a warm, cozy and comfortable feeling, a sense of belonging. Celebrate this day, by learning more about your family tree, and exploring your roots.

LM #476 - Wacky Holidays - National Poinsettia Day

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday to you! We do hope you are having a good weekend!

Before we get to today's challenge we have a new design team member to introduce. Lori Kobular is joining the Lasting Memories Design Team! Lori was our guest designer in October and we are happy to have her join us full time. Welcome to the team, Lori!

LM #476 - Team B - National Poinsettia Day is celebrated on Dec 12 - Your challenge is to use poinsettias on your layout in some form.

These beautiful flowers are a well-recognized symbol of Christmas. Poinsettia Day was officially declared by an Act of Congress. It is in honor of Joel Roberts Poinsett, who died on December 12, 1851. Poinsett was the first Ambassador to Mexico. Poinsett brought this colorful plant back to his plantation in the U.S. He grew the plants in his Greenville, S.C plantation and gave them out as gifts to friends.

LM #475 - Wacky Holidays - Mitten Tree Day

Hello, everyone! Happy December 1st! Can you believe that 2019 is almost completely in the books?! It is crazy how fast this year has gone by! We hope that all of you in the US had a good Thanksgiving holiday.

It's time for our last set of challenges for 2019. Our theme for December is 'Daily Holidays, Special & Wacky Days' - a fun spin for this holiday season. Our first challenge for December is:

LM #475 - Team A - Mitten Tree Day is celebrated on Dec 6- Your challenge is to either scrapbook a Christmas Tree or about Mittens

Mitten Tree Day was likely created by a grade school teacher. It's the perfect grade school craft project or story hour. And, the timing of this holiday in early December is perfect.
